The Science Kitchen Garden and Sustainability program provides a stimulating and authentic learning environment and enables CSPS to fully integrate our school curriculum and learning framework. The program offers infinite possibilities to reinforce Science, Numeracy, Literacy, Language and Cultural studies, Wellbeing and all aspects of Environmental Sustainability. The program engages students outside of the traditional classroom and allows them to learn about a huge range of subjects including Physics (energy source, the sun), Biology (plant growth) Chemistry (soil and composting), ecological impacts (pests), recycling (sustainability), Numeracy (measurement), Wellbeing (chickens) and nutrition (fresh, seasonal produce) and food production (harvesting and cooking). The program also encourages critical thinking, teamwork, an understanding of cause and effect, and increased levels of observation.
