Prep 2025 Transition Program

Prep 2025 Parent Information Evening (for enrolled Prep 2025 families)
Wednesday 23rd October 7.00pm to 8.00pm in our School Library

Parents and children will meet on the lawn at the front of the School Office. Parents are not required to stay.

Getting to know your child

Orientation Day
Tuesday 10th December 9.15am to 11.15am

Each child will need to bring a snack, water and hat. Parents are warmly invited to stay for refreshments on our front lawn. Our Principal, Natasha Cummins, and current families will be in attendance and available to answer any questions. On this day, 2025 Prep students will also meet their teacher and new classmates.

2025 Prep Students - First day of School
Thursday 30th January 2025

The first day of school for Prep students is a shortened day 9.00am – 12.00pm. Following this, school hours are 8.45am-3.15pm. Prep students do not attend school on Wednesdays until after the Labour Day weekend. From Tuesday 11th March 2025, Prep students will attend school full time. On the Wednesdays, each Prep student will be required to have two sessions with their teacher to participate in some Literacy and Numeracy assessments. Booking information for these sessions will be provided soon.

For families with older siblings, please note that students in Year 1 to 6 start school on Wednesday 29th January 2025.

Prep Enrolment Process and Timeline

The Department of Education and Training (DET) has an enrolment timeline for all Victorian government public schools. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Prep at a primary school, including Camberwell South Primary School. Our Enrolment Form will be available online from 15 April 2024 and you can submit an enrolment application for Prep up to Friday 26 July 2024.

Our School Zone

You can access our school zone on findmyschool.vic.gov.au. Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about all Victorian school zones.

Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

The Department provides guidance through the School Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.
